Canon HV20, HF11 or SonyHDR-SR12? * Edit: Or HG21? ^ ^

Question by n4pster:
November 2008

Howdy nice site you have here;]

The title already explained my decision problem; P

But here again I would like to explain why each of the 3 camcorders for me has its positive sides, and maybe you can find me on this basis will help in my decision.
I have basically zero knowledge of camcorders or video technology, so I would be grateful if not too much with technical terms will be juggled: O

Actually I want to nix it as next videos with good picture and sound record. For the most part well under normal lighting conditions and with Tripod. On most gadgets, I can probably forgo.

Canon HV20:
-> Still a peak camcorder, and Now, thanks to the fairly low price fallen, I can in any case still a schnieke Stereomic to echo what the purchase of a HV30 then synonymous finally makes superfluous (I can not really between the Sennheiser MKE 300 or the Rode Stereo VideoMic decide - because someone can give me further help?).
-> The miniDVs are of course top. Picture quality is great and there are no major Probs with the post-video editing. And thanks to the low prices for miniDVs there is no problem with capacities.
-> No Full HD, but a super sharp HDV is then synonymous not bad;]

Canon HF11:
-> Picture peaks, which is s.wichtigsten me. As the sound is concerned I have no idea, but the overall effect of Picture and Sound is probably not with a HV20 with Extra Mic able. At the current price is an extra mic just probably not in it: C
-> If you have money, are flash cards of course, a nice memory method (space saving and so ^ ^). But since I have no laptop, I need to go tens of flash cards, and because it's the Money ...

SonyHDR-SR12:
-> The picture is not as good, but this should be under normal conditions with the built-in 5.1 (!) A very good mic sound right.
-> The 120GB hard drive is really the geilste. Approx. 15 hours of Full HD recording can I still hold s.der Cam.
> * EDIT:
-> And a high-resolution display is of course synonymous nice to Focus NEN good style <

> * EDIT:
The HG21 is NEN tick more expensive, but seems pretty much everything to offer what you need. Supi sharpness as usual for Canon (maybe even better than HV20/HF11?), And a 120GB hard drive (with the new devices (codec optimization) is yes then AVCHD is better than miniDV, with a workstation outweighs hopefully synonymous the rapid transfer to the PC the endless conversion time ^ ^). WHERE ARE YOUR RECOMMENDATIONS: D <

All in all, I tend to s.meisten currently HV20, simply because it is so cheap and so I very much extra money for a mic, a good tripod and a really good 2t Battery did. MiniDV And it's easier to process, if not synonymous soo important to me because I NEN Calculator workstation have to stand here (WXP 64bit, q9770, 8gb ram)

More than a few reports, a clear buy recommendation and advice synonymous what Stereomics, I would love!

Answer by n4pster:

Oh me and if someone can recommend Lens, with whom I of at least 40mm to 35mm WW come, which is not too much cost and relatively easy (and safe ^ ^) s.einer (or more) of these can connect Cams - of these tips I probably would still make use synonymous:]

Answer by DennisP.:

Sry. if I give you no answers to your questions there.

But I would be times where you intressieren the HV20 still akufen want. I would they possibly synonymous growth if they really would be clearly better than the HV30, but unfortunately I find them in the network is not at good prices.

Then I am not even around. A bit of google revealed, however: The HV30 is generally cheaper to get, as was again the verpennt Prices update.

I think the HG21 is the camera for my purposes, with a Picture supidupi and a 120GB hard drive brings together everything they actually me between HF11 and the HDR-SR12 has to commute. The price of the HV30 is obviously unbeatable in comparison, but the luxury of a 120gb disk, I would actually not do:>

If it is still the question of a good tripod, a good and a Stereocam WW Lens to me at least 40mm instead of 35mm with the offers I did not scrap my whole camera ^ _ ^

Answer by RickyMartini:

How big are the differences in handling between the SonySR11/12 and the Canon HG20/21 (between the HF1x/100 the HGS and the differences are probably fairly small, at times, I suppose)?

What is particular to the focus and the manual Belichtungsrelegung?
So far I use SonyDCR-P101E and also looking for an HD model - after six years seems a worthwhile switching to yes. ;)
