Sorry, but to me it is not clear how the recording mode DV / HDV Canon XH G1 eingestelltwird. DV wants to turn and do not have any experience with the Cam. From the manual I am in this not become smarter, but it sure is s.meinem semi ... THANK YOU!

User Guide Page 30:
Open the menu and select [signal-setup]. Select [signal stdrd]
then select a setup and then [yes] to the setting
confirm. Close the menu.
" [hd]: To record on a tape in the HDV standard, or to use the camcorder as a high -
Definition (HD)-Camera.
" [sd16: 9], [sd4: 3]: To record on a tape in the DV standard, or to use the camcorder
as a standard-definition (SD)-Camera. Select the desired aspect ratio. I assume that you have with "shoot in DV" mean that you have the SD4 :3-like mode. You dial a call.
On Page 23 in the instructions will explain to you how you fundamentally changing settings in the menu only. Wishes every success!
