Note I said "DESIGN." Of course the Japanese build in Europe because the government encourages it. But design? And only very high volume TVs are built in Europe. (Actually, the highest volume units are probably built in China.) Lower volume devices are likely not. Show me a DV camcorder that's not rebadged from Japan. Or, a Hi8 camcorder?
