DVL-Digest 1185 - Postings: Index D9 (was: GY-DV700 vs. DSR300) New To fire-wire, DV Editing D9 (was: GY-DV700 vs. DSR300) - "Perry Mitchell" From: Alexei - DV411 Chris, Digital-S is now called D9, a tape and recording format from JVC, based on DV50 compression format. It is significantly different from DV, and competes with BetaSP, DigiBeta, DVCPRO50. It is quite a bit of a step up from DV25-based format in quality. DV50 has a 50Mbs fixed data rate and a 4:2:2 sampling. Some info and links to related Adam Wilt's and Matrox' articles are here: http://dv50.org Alexei, http://dv411.com : What, exactly, is Digital S? I've seen it bandied about, but : I've never : actually used it. Is it a different tape format?
