180 GB IBM ATA Drives (for Charles) - "Perry Mitchell"

A related question on the 'Dark Side'! Is anybody out there successfully
using the built-in RAID system on an Abit IT7 motherboard? Mine works fine
except for capture from Firewire when I get dropped frames. I can capture to
a single identical drive (being used for the 'System') perfectly, and then
transfer the clips to the RAID for editing. The RAID system (2x80GB IBM)
benchtests fine at twice the speed of the single.
Pentium 4 2.2MHz, loads of RAM, WinXP

Perry,
Is there a way for ordinary Joes like us to do comparisons like this using a
scope?

Frame size question - "Perry Mitchell"

From: Stu Siegal
What is the correct frame size for Photoshop & After Effects compositions
headed to DV, and headed to Beta?
I've been using 720x480 (though once an Avid editor had me use 720x486), and
just now in my brand new Photoshop 7 I see a custom set frame size for NTSC
DV that's 720X 540 for 601 & 720x534 for DV. Can someone educated me?

Lobster Video - "Perry Mitchell"

From: Don Stark
Hey gang, need some advice for a friend who is doing research on
lobsters for his thesis. Below is the challenge that he is facing
(as he has described it to me). Any suggestions for techniques/cameras
would be greatly appreciated.
"I need to take some video of some lobsters in a tank but it has to be
completely dark. No red light whatsoever. We have an older video camera
here, but I've been looking into those new NightVision technology
cameras and have found that they emit a red light (IR) level that is
far enough red not to be detected by lobsters. This is great news for
me because I wanted to do some time lapse of some lobsters swimming in
tanks. The problem is that (1) I don't have a camera like this and (2)
I am unfamiliar in how to video in such a manner."
