Would like to build a Hyper threading 3.06 Intel machine out of it. May have to put in a 2.5 until the 3.06 is more available. Any comments/help/suggestions would be appreciated. New Software Product - "Perry Mitchell" From: David Mowbray I won't go into heavy details because I don't want to violate the non-commercial nature of this list but I do want to inform you all about a new product our company is releasing today. It is called Content Manager and is designed to be used by Editors with Adobe Premiere 5 and up. Simply put, Content Manager gives you a handle on all the content in a Premiere project and also identifies extraneous material on your hard drives that is not part of a particular project. If you are backing up or archiving projects with video clips to CD ROM or DVD, then this program will let you select only the relevant material. There is a lot more to it than that but you will have to visit our web site for the details. Slow motion techniques - "Perry Mitchell" From: Randy Quimpo Yes, thats what I thought - a special purpose camera running at high speed - definitely not DV. The tennis website showed a camera that looked like an industrial model. Are these special modifications or purpose built cams, I wonder? the end of the DVCPRO? - "Crittenden, Jan" From: Ernesto Figge [mailto:efigge@arnet.com.ar] Sent: Saturday, November 30, 2002 11:39 PM To: DV-L Subject: [dv-l] the end of the DVCPRO? "Panasonic recently decided to stop introducing camcorders that employ the 25 Mbps DCVPRO format..." http://videosystems.com/ar/video_shoot_tools_6/index.htm this is the principle of the end of the DVCPRO25? The end of an digital format with not digital interfase 1394? I am very happy for the consumers that won't spend their money. I think the explanation is simply that in the DV/4:1:1/4:2:0 domain, Sony's DVCAM format was the winner -- and not just against Panasonic's DVCPro, but also against Sony's own BetaSX originally intended as the digital replacement for BetaSP for ENG. However, it seems shooters and stations (at least in America) prefered to switch to DVCAM (also some to DVCPro [IINM Canada's CTV network made a huge investment in DVCPro a few years ago]). At rec.video.production there's been a huge thread about this over the past week or so started by Bill Farnsworth, a long-time BetaSP shooter. It's worth reading for DV-L people who don't currently sub to rvp. Sony seems to be pushing DVCAM more than ever, though some have expressed misgivings that its top models don't have the hi-rez capability of the top-end BetaSP (and DigiBeta) cams. DigiBeta seems to be slowing down somewhat, perhaps because prices are not much lower than Sony's for HDTV gear. So, by a process of elimination it seems that DVCAM is now the most attractive value from Sony for standard-def digital video. Just my 2 cents......
