Deck head cleaning - "Perry Mitchell"

---Looking back it seemed a little top heavy, but necessary in order to
understand why we're all now dealing with tape formats that are so damn
delicate. I find it shocking that no one in the design committees stood up
to inject some "real world" factors into the specs that make up the tape
stock and transport layouts. The drive for miniaturization is all well and
good but, truth be told, we're now dealing with tape stock that is as thin
as a human hair, written on by head assemblies that are almost designed on
the "molecular" level.
A slightly wider tape with a few more mils of thickness and we would have
something that was still small but more manageable and durable.
Ahhh, if only those pesky things like gravity and foreign "molecules" could
have been removed. We'd probably have a perfect format!
