DV cameras - "Perry"

In places like Akiharbra(sic?) all the shops have export counters for
tourists that sell international versions of products. Whether they are any
cheaper there than Hong Kong, Dubai or Singapore is another matter. You
might want to do some research with prices and maybe arrange a stop over on
the way. Tokyo is probably very reliable, but in the other places you need
to make sure you get a proper international warranty.
The beauty of shopping in Tokyo is the Sales bargains that will normally be
only for domestic stock. I bought a stills camera that was identical to the
international version except for the characters on the date change buttons,
and they were pretty easy to work out. I never had much joy with haggling
prices in Tokyo, but it is essential in some other places like the Middle
East. Don't be surprised to see very large differences in prices between
neighbouring States and similar products, which are down to the attitudes of
the importing companies. I bought an Olympus 35mm camera system in Saudi
Arabia for a fraction of what it would have cost in Europe, a friend
couldn't get much off a Canon at all.
