DVL-Digest 659 - Postings: Index "Free" ColorBars for Memory St - (2) "Free" ColorBars for Memory St - Adam Wilt I thought you might be able to grab the bars and import them into one > of your NLE's to see if they are accurate. It doesn't matter what they look like in ANY of the NLEs I have access to! Do I import it using the Matrox soft codec with RGB 0-255 mapped to YUV values of 0-255, 16-255, or 16-235? SoftDV in any of its mapping modes? Do I use the Canopus codec with 100% or 150% color mapping? Do I use DV Plus in clamped/clamped, full/clamped, or full/full modes? What about QT 5 in white vs. super-white YUV? What if I import them into a media100 iFinish? Avid NewsCutter? Vegas Video using the beta Microsoft codec? All will give different results. And there's no guarantee than any of the NLE settings I pick will match what the VX2000 does on its output, which is what you're concerned about! I repeat (and this is my last comment on this thread): I don't have the *necessary* equipment to give a thumbs up or thumbs down on these bars. I have a lot of stuff available, but none of it helps answer *this* question. Therefore I *cannot* help. Cheers, Adam Wilt "Free" ColorBars for Memory St - "Perry" Since Adam is too polite to tell you, I'll jump in and say that what you are trying to do is utterly pointless! Color bars and tone are supposed to reflect the levels of the program content that follows, to allow for inaccurate analog transfers. Since you don't even know for sure what the level of the bars is, it becomes a meaningless exercise. It's what we call 'going through the motions'! When you understand what level you should have on your presentation media, getting the correct color bars 'graphic' is actually a pretty mundane operation.
