Time Code Question

Time Code Question - "Perry"

saying there is a way to get the Betacam time-code into DVCam?<
You need to understand how Timecode normally works. There is a timecode
generator (TCG) on the recorder which is locked to the incoming video during
record. The normal practice is to preset this TCG to the existing timecode
on the tape before the record starts (it only needs a frame) so that it
starts at the right timecode count.
The better DVCAM decks have a facility to switch this start reference to an
external TC source, either supplied via an analog TC input or stripped from
the incoming video VITC. (note: they can often represent different TC counts
on the same Betacam tape!)
Your DSR-40 doesn't have such a facility, you need to go to the 'studio'
decks to get it. The DSR-40 can only copy timecode that is on the iLink
input and comes from a DVCAM source.
