Re: 2nd video board for G4
[DV-List] Re: 2nd video board for G4

Re: 2nd video board for G4 - "Perry"

Yet more plot thickening:
I've found a UK retailer selling a Mac PCI board from German manufacturer
'Village Tronic' for a very good price. It is based upon the 3dfx chip which
of course was bought up by NVidia and is now presumably obsolete. The
Village Tronic web site (http://www.villagetronic.com/) seems to be up to
date and refreshingly honest, but makes no mention of the chip situation.
Any input from our Continental readers?

A couple of friends have a formac card.. works perfect with Final
Cut Pro... both on G4 450...<
The plot thickens. I have a couple of simple Formac ProMedia PCI cards, but
they won't work in my G4. There is mention on the Formac site of ROM changes
needed, but my board type is not deemed worthy of support!
By coincidence a poster to the After Effects List suggests some mods to
allow use of PC type PCI cards fitted with the GeForce2 chip. These are
maybe going cheap now the GeForce3 is out.
