Since the fall of Mainconcept´s Mainactor there was no semiprofessional solution around for a long time. But the now arsing Beta 0.7 of Kdenlive sounds veeery promising:
* Firewire
capture: DV and HDV
* Supported formats DV, HDV, mpeg, avi, mp4, mov, flv, ogg, wav, mp3, vorbis, ...
* Guides and Markers: help you organize your timeline
* Search as you type: you can now search in your timeline (will parse all clips, guides and markers names)
* Copy & paste support for clips, effects and transitions
* See your changes in real time (transitions & effects)
* Full undo support
* Export to all formats supported by FFmpeg: mpeg, avi, dv, flash, mov, ...
* You can launch an export job and continue working on your project
BTW:The last two points were recently announced by Adobe as killerfeatures für CS4. Funny anyway.
