Physically correct lens flares by real-time GPU rendering

[10:02 tue,6.September 2011   by rudi]

bildAbout lens flare (better known as lens flares) can ponder always nice. Stu Maschwitz can on this issue, for example, get completely into raptures.... ° VV = 23687553 "Lens flares are awesome because they are fricking crazy They are completely unreal They increase the veil of unreality between the audience and the movie They are beautiful They tiny imperfections are magnified by orders of magnitude. They are aliens. And scary buildings. We give them sound effects and music cues. They make movies bigger than life because they have nothing to do with life. " Actually, these are a picture disorder caused by the combination of aperture and lens groups inside the lens. Meanwhile, however, precisely this disorder often artificially added in post production to give a more natural recording (which somehow seems paradoxical at first glance). But on this disorder, the general viewing habits have already changed so much that a lack of Lans-flares often suspicious acts. Many plug-in manufacturer with synthetic lens flares has already taken one or two dollars, but on closer inspection you could almost always distinguish one man from a true reflex. The bar for this distinctiveness hurdle has now been established by four students noticeably higher. Because they were using GPU Computing for Siggraph 2011, a lens model based on a physical real-time calculation of lens flares, which are impressively close to the original. Nice ...
