Sonic buys DivX Networks

Sonic Solutions, known for DVD authoring programs distributed (including under the label Roxio), has announced the DivX Networks for a price of 323 million U.S. dollars to buy. Sonic will benefit, according to Heise of the good contacts of DivX Networks for the consumer electronics industry (DivX technology should already be integrated to around 300 million Unterhaltungsseräten) and the know-how regarding Internet streaming and DRM. The package is the specialist MainConcept codec, which was purchased in 2007 by DivX.
