When dealing with video installations, guaranteeing the problem knows different video streams on different displays / projectors play synchronously. Most of the artists working here in the self-written software, and often the whole PC as a media player. The open source project syncstarter other hand, can now live WD TV HD Media Player to synchronize streams by just a modified firmware is used. This significantly saves both hardware and power costs. This should relieve the handling due to the size of the boxes and the resiliency many a battered video yourself from future stress attacks. Currently, the software is still Alpha, but even in principle to use. The Sync is already accurate to within 3 frames, the developers plan to ensure in the future almost always correct sync. Since the Sync is controlled via Ethernet, are also long, very cheap cable runs possible. The videos are not hosted by the way, at a central location but should depend directly on a USB stick at the respective player. A detailed setup instructions are found ftp://ftp.dyne.org/hdsync/doc/hdsync_manual.pdf (eg here in PDF). Those who often herumärgert with similar structures, is therefore certainly looking forward to hdsync bearish.
