AI-Powered Point Tracking: Mocha Pro 2026.5 Released with New Tools for Complex VFX Tasks

Boris FX Mocha Pro for planar 2D/3D tracking and masking is now available in version 2026.5. New additions include AI-powered Point Tracking, more detailed automatic mattes, new export options for better support of studio pipelines, and Windows ARM support for the Adobe plugin and the standalone application.

**Point Track ML**
The PowerMesh tracking feature, which allows for the capture of subtle deformations on surfaces like skin or fabric in Mocha Pro, now includes Point Track ML. This new tracking mode uses AI to analyze tracks across an entire sequence—unlike classic point or planar trackers, which are based on frame-by-frame analysis. The model has been trained to ignore occlusions, lighting changes, and shadows. This is intended to solve previously difficult tasks, such as mesh tracking on wrinkled clothing or in situations where hands move over the tracked surface, more quickly.
According to Boris FX, Point Track ML also tracks surfaces that rotate away from the camera and then back again, which was previously not possible with planar tracking. Three additional tools are designed to enable fast workflows: a Refine Mode for higher-resolution analysis, editable meshes when needed, and the ability to convert PowerMesh tracks back into planar data if desired.
AdjustTrack with Point Track ML
Additionally, the AdjustTrack module now includes Point Track ML. This module serves as a correction tool in the final workflow step and helps clean up extremely difficult tracks that repeatedly slip due to motion blur, rapid movement, changing reference points, or areas moving out of frame. Previously, users had to manually correct every adjustment point in such cases. Now, a simple workflow using the Auto Nudge Tool and Point Track ML is designed to automatically detect drifting points and correct them, ensuring surface tracks remain stably anchored. Those requiring more control can further refine the nudge position via per-point adjustments, preview a high-resolution analysis to see additional details, and use support grids to add extra points to a shot to improve accuracy.
**Advanced AI Masking**
Furthermore, Mocha Pro's existing AI-powered masking tools receive new features that further automate the creation and refinement of mattes. Powered by Mask ML, the Object Brush now automatically generates finer edge details with the new Auto ROI tool, according to Boris FX. Additionally, custom ROIs (Regions of Interest) can be drawn to isolate a subject more precisely.
Matte Refine ML with Auto ROI
Refine Matte ML is designed to instantly remove background flicker in mattes as well as isolated artifacts, thanks to Auto ROI. Matte Assist ML receives a new Search Area Tool that specifically targets small, difficult areas with contour-hugging generation and keyframeable fields to allow for more control over time.
**Optimized Workflows**
Further improvements are intended to ensure smoother operation in various VFX pipelines. New flexible export options, for example, allow for the export of render shapes to RGBA along with the source clip or any rendered clip, the export of separate layer mattes as multi-layer EXR files, the separation of layers by color channels, and the disabling of layer opacity keyframes on matte data when exporting to After Effects, Fusion, and Flame.
The Curve Editor, which visualizes problem areas in a track and smooths data, now allows users to view and edit PowerMesh keyframes per vertex. This enables faster corrections for mesh-based tracking tasks.
Furthermore, there is now Windows ARM support for the Adobe plugin and standalone versions, as well as expanded Python API support for PowerMesh and the contour functions of Matte Assist ML.
Mocha Pro is available as a plugin and standalone application via monthly/annual subscriptions, upgrade and support plans, and perpetual licenses. Supported host applications include Adobe After Effects and Adobe Premiere Pro, Avid Media Composer, Foundry Nuke, Blackmagic Fusion, Autodesk Flame, and VEGAS Pro.
