Adobe has introduced a new (beta) feature called Quick Cut in the Firefly Video Editor: helpx.adobe.com/de/firefly/web/firefly-video-editor/create-quick-cut/quick-cut-overview.html. The tool is aimed at users who want to speed up the initial editing of their video material. Instead of manually reviewing the raw footage, the AI-powered feature takes over the analysis and creates a first structured draft.

Adobe introduces AI-powered rough cut with Quick Cut in the Firefly Video Editor
The basis for Quick Cut is natural language processing via a prompt: Users describe their video concept—such as an interview, a product demo, or an event recap—and the feature generates an initial cut from it. Several analysis functions are used in this process: automatic scene detection identifies visual and acoustic changes in the material, intelligent shot selection evaluates focus, composition, and action, and audio analysis recognizes relevant dialogue and sound tracks.
The result is a first draft that serves as a starting point for further editing. Adjustments to aspect ratio, pacing, and the organization of B-roll material are possible afterward. With this feature, Adobe addresses various use cases, including the production of social media content, product demos, vlogs, and the preparation of event recordings.
Quick Cut is part of Adobe's Firefly offering, which bundles various AI-powered tools for creative work. The feature is currently in beta and is available immediately in the Adobe Firefly app.
Until March 16th, users with paid plans (Firefly Pro, Firefly Premium, and credit-based plans) can benefit from an expanded offering: During this period, unlimited image and video generations with a resolution of up to 2K are possible.
