AJA has announced the two new Hi5-12G and HA5-12G mini-converters, each with an additional fiber port that can convert video data between 12G-SDI and HDMI 2.0. The AJA Hi5-12G is designed for monitoring 12G-SDI via HDMI as the successor of the 3G-SDI Hi5-4K-Plus. The unit transmits the data (4K at 60fps maximum) of a single-link 12G-SDI input with up to eight channels of embedded digital audio to HDMI 2.0b output with either two or eight channels of embedded audio.
The converter can also generate HDR metadata and has a newly clocked SDI loop output. The two other models Hi5-12G-R and Hi5-12G-TR also have a receiver or transceiver for the transmission of SDI 4K signals over longer distances via fiber optic connections. The AJA Hi5-12G costs around , the version with fiber optic receiver around 1,000 or 1,200 (transmitter+receiver).

The AJA HA5-12G, on the other hand, goes the opposite way: it converts the video data connected to the HDMI 2.0 input, including the (up to eight) digital audio channels or two analog audio channels for the two 12G-SDI single-link outputs with integrated digital audio. It can be configured via the USB port using the Mini-Config software. There are also the models HA5-12G-T with one or two (HA-12G-2T) fiber ports via which the SDI 4K signals can be transmitted over long distances (up to 10 km). The HA5-12G costs about 800 Dollas - the fiber models about 1,000 dollars or 1,200 dollars.
