Adobe has released a new ChatGPT plugin that allows users to control over 70 functions of Adobe Creative Cloud apps such as Firefly, Premiere, Lightroom, Illustrator, InDesign, and Adobe Stock via prompt. The new plugin replaces several previously separate connectors for Photoshop, Adobe Express, and Acrobat, thereby unifying and simplifying working with Adobe tools from within ChatGPT. For the first time, this also makes it possible to perform simple video editing tasks in Premiere via prompt. 
What the Adobe plugin can do via ChatGPTFundamentally, thanks to the plugin, tasks can be performed in the various Adobe apps using just text prompts—such as editing images, creating designs, or changing the format of videos for social media. The workflow is entirely goal-oriented: users describe the desired result in ChatGPT, invoke the plugin using "@Adobe", and the plugin independently selects the appropriate tool in the background to accomplish the given task.  Video resizing via ChatGPT For example, you can upload a video and then instruct ChatGPT to create a quick rough cut or combine key moments into a highlight video, and then automatically adjust it to the appropriate sizes for YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram. Other examples of functionality via ChatGPT- Photo batch editing: upload multiple images simultaneously to adjust color, light, and tone, apply uniform looks via presets, remove distracting elements, replace backgrounds, or generate new image elements. - Template workflows: select an Adobe Express template, adjust text and colors, animate for social media, or export as a print-ready PDF. - Data-driven documents: generate personalized PDFs or images in batches from a data table, such as flyers for every real estate listing from a list.  However, Adobe notes one limitation: the plugins do not support the full feature set of the individual applications, but rather focus on major workflows. For tasks that require pixel-level precision or a true timeline, users must switch to the desktop app. However, it is possible to seamlessly continue working on the project started in the chat after switching, as supported results are saved in the Creative Cloud. Difference to previous connectorsPreviously, ChatGPT only offered separate access to Photoshop, Express, and Acrobat—video was not included. The new, unified plugin completely replaces these three connectors and significantly expands their functionality. Users who have utilized the previous plugins are supposed to be migrated to the new one automatically; otherwise, a manual reconnection to the new plugin is required. Difference to the Firefly AI AssistantThe new ChatGPT plugin must be distinguished from Adobe&s proprietary  Firefly AI Assistant. While the latter also orchestrates Photoshop, Premiere, Lightroom, Illustrator, and Express via a chat interface, it is more deeply embedded in the native Adobe environment and is correspondingly more powerful. Adobe has also announced that it will connect the Firefly Assistant to Claude, Microsoft 365 Copilot, and additional platforms in the future. The ChatGPT plugin is therefore an externally available and functionally reduced variant of the same AI Adobe toolset. Account requirement and costsAn Adobe account is not strictly necessary to get started—many features can be used as a guest. Logging in or creating a free Adobe account unlocks additional features: generative AI workflows, access to Creative Cloud assets via search, and cross-session saving of results. According to Adobe, a paid Adobe subscription is required for certain specific functions, though it remains open which ones exactly. A paid ChatGPT subscription is not necessary for use; the plugin also works with free ChatGPT access. The new Adobe plugin is available immediately worldwide in ChatGPT (Web and Desktop), and according to Adobe, also in ChatGPT Work and Codex.
