Sigma has released new firmware updates for a total of eight L-Mount lenses from the Contemporary line. The updates primarily bring expanded functionality for focus ring assignment and new video options. - Sigma 24mm F3.5 DG DN | Contemporary – Ver. 1.4 - Sigma 24mm F3.5 DG | Contemporary (Black/Silver) – Ver. 1.4 - Sigma 30mm F1.4 DC DN | Contemporary – Ver. 1.4 - Sigma 56mm F1.4 DC DN | Contemporary – Ver. 1.3 ![]() What&s new?The major new feature is the ability to assign custom functions to the focus ring during AF operation – such as front or rear dial, aperture, shutter speed, crop zoom, exposure compensation, ISO, white balance, color temperature, AF mode, or Photo Style. This function is available on the Panasonic S1R II, S1 II, S1 II E, S5 II, S5 IIX, and S9 cameras. Also new is the option to reverse the rotation direction of the focus ring in MF mode – though only on the S5 II, S5 IIX, and S9 models. Of interest to videographers: the aperture value display can now be shown as a T-stop value, which is particularly relevant in cinema environments. UpdateThe firmware update can be installed either directly in-camera via the slashCam support page or via the SIGMA USB DOCK UD-11 in conjunction with the current version of SIGMA Optimization Pro. The updates are available for download immediately.
