Two New Ultra-Wide-Angle Lenses for Professionals Expand the Canon RF Lens Portfolio in the L Series - the World&s First Fisheye Zoom Lens with a 190° Angle of View (RF 7-14mm F2.8-3.5L FISHEYE STM) and the Fast RF 14mm F1.4L VCM.
Canon RF 7-14mm F2.8-3.5L FISHEYE STM
The RF 7-14mm F2.8-3.5L FISHEYE STM zoom lens is designed for spectacular photo and video recordings in areas such as astro, landscapes, and action sports, and in combination with an EOS R system full-frame mirrorless camera, it offers two image looks: a circular 190° fisheye image at 7mm focal length and a full-frame diagonal 180° fisheye image at 14mm. On APS-C cameras, the maximum wide-angle setting corresponds to approximately 8.7 mm for full-frame diagonal 180° fisheye shots.

As an evolution of the EF 8-15mm f/4L Fisheye USM, the new RF model presents itself as wider, faster, and lighter, while sharpness is said to be improved right into the image corners. A drop-in filter system allows for the convenient use of optional circular polarizing filters and variable ND filters, which can be adjusted in real time.
Drop-in Filtersystem
The close focusing distance is 0.15 meters. Two aspherical replica elements minimize spherical aberrations, and five UD elements ensure high image quality. The latter are intended to reduce chromatic aberrations. Additionally, ASC coatings reduce ghosting and flare even in strong backlight.
The quiet STM autofocus with a leadscrew mechanism, combined with focus breathing compensation, makes the lens suitable for video recording. Circular fisheye videos recorded with compatible cameras can be converted into 2D 180° VR files via the EOS VR Utility3. Thanks to equidistant projection, the resolution is said to remain consistently high from the image center to the edge.
Features RF 7-14MM F2.8-3.5L FISHEYE STM
- World&s first fisheye zoom lens with a 190° angle of view - Two image looks: 7 mm circular, 14 mm diagonal (full frame) - Equidistant projection for easy 2D 180° VR conversion - Aspherical and UD lenses for high image quality - Fast aperture f/2.8–3.5 - Drop-in filter system - Robust L-series with dust and splash protection - Light weight of approx. 476 g
Canon RF 14mm F1.4L VCM
The fast hybrid prime lens RF 14mm F1.4L VCM is also designed equally for photo and video recording. According to Canon, it offers smooth, precise AF tracking as well as focus breathing compensation. A dedicated aperture ring is also included.
Canon RF 14mm F1.4L VCM
With a diagonal angle of view of 114°, the lens is ideally suited for landscape and interior shots. Canon promises exceptional sharpness into the corners even at wide open aperture, making the lens particularly interesting for astrophotography. The large maximum aperture allows for shorter exposure times to reduce star trails while maintaining high image quality and moderate ISO values.
The high sharpness performance is achieved through the extensive use of special lens elements and coatings. Three (GMo) aspherical elements suppress sagittal coma effects for precisely rendered point light sources such as stars. Fluorite, BR, and UD elements reduce chromatic aberrations. Canon SWC and ASC coatings minimize ghosting and flare.
Weighing around 578g, the optics remain relatively light despite the many built-in elements, making them suitable for travel, outdoor shoots, or drone use. The robust L-series construction is designed to withstand demanding conditions.
