Competition for Apple?: NVIDIA RTX Spark - mobile ARM laptops with up to 128 GB and 1 Petaflop

[17:56 Mon,1.June 2026   by Thomas Richter]

We reported six months ago that NVIDIA was developing its own ARM chip for laptops – now the N1X, aka RTX Spark, is official: it integrates 20 ARM CPU cores (10x Cortex-X925 and 10x A725 each) as well as 6,144 CUDA cores (Blackwell architecture), making it equivalent to the SoC used in NVIDIA&s ,000 DGX Spark mini-workstation unveiled more than a year ago. The RTX Spark is said to offer an AI computing performance of 1 petaflop (albeit only at FP4 precision) and integrate up to 128 GB of unified memory on the chip with a memory bandwidth of 273 GB/s – similar to the Apple M4 Pro.

Unlike the latter, the new RTX Spark is not intended to run on NVIDIA&s specialized Linux, but on Windows ARM – several well-known manufacturers such as Acer, Asus, Dell, and Lenovo have already announced corresponding notebooks. With this, NVIDIA is offering the first Windows ARM alternative to Qualcomm&s Snapdragon X Elite. The CPUs, GPUs, NPUs, RAM, and other components integrated onto a single chip aim for higher efficiency than previous classic Windows notebooks, in order to challenge the overwhelming competition from Apple&s own highly integrated and extremely powerful M-series SoCs.

Performance for AI and Video Editing

Although NVIDIA explicitly promotes the RTX Spark as a platform for local AI agents such as OpenClaw, the high integration of CPU, GPU, and RAM is also suitable for other compute-intensive tasks such as 3D modeling or editing high-resolution videos. NVIDIA explicitly mentions the ability to work with 12K 4:2:2 videos via the integrated Blackwell decoder or to perform real-time color correction on nested video timelines.

Adobe Optimized for Spark

In collaboration with NVIDIA, Adobe has even developed a special version of Premiere and Photoshop to fully exploit the capabilities of the RTX Spark. Premiere receives a new video pipeline that utilizes the unified memory along with the Blackwell GPU and TensorRT to enable real-time editing, GPU-accelerated AI, and more efficient rendering.

Photoshop gets a new GPU-accelerated compositing engine with live filters, HDR support, and modern brushing tools, fully aligned with TensorRT. Furthermore, both Adobe apps are intended to work with Windows agents, allowing users to delegate workflows via voice or instructions. According to Adobe, these optimizations should deliver up to 2x faster performance in AI, editing, coloring, and effects. The new Spark-optimized versions of Premiere and Photoshop are scheduled to be released alongside the first RTX Spark laptops. Thanks to its existing Windows ARM version of DaVinci Resolve, Blackmagic will also benefit from the efficient performance of the new RTX Spark laptops, especially in mobile use.

And the Performance?

Unfortunately, not much is known about the actual performance yet: there are no benchmarks because there are no notebooks working with Windows ARM and the N1X yet. The RTX Spark features slightly more CUDA cores than an RTX 5070 graphics card (6,144 vs. 5,888), which, however, would not be quite as powerful due to the typical cooling/power limitations of mobile systems. This would give the RTX Spark significantly greater graphics performance than Qualcomm&s competing Snapdragon X Elite ARM system, but unlike the latter, it would use the proven NVIDIA GPU architecture with CUDA and Tensor cores, which could also be easily utilized by applications in the field of AI and VFX.

However, the launch of the first RTX Spark laptops (and desktop systems as well) is rumored to be delayed due to issues with Windows ARM and is not expected until the 4th quarter of 2026.
