DJI has added optional flyaway protection to Care Refresh, the advanced replacement service and accident protection for its drones. This means that if the drone is lost during a flight - whether because it simply changes course on its own and flies away, or disconnects from the pilot and is then lost - you can report it to DJI and get a new drone for an exchange fee that is significantly cheaper than buying a new one. A prerequisite for the exchange is the submission of flight data submitted and the creation of a "DJI Care Flyaway Report" so that DJI can track the facts. According to DJI, the exchange units are brand new products or those that match brand new products in performance and reliability.
Flyaway protection applies only to the new DJI Mavic Air 2 and DJI Mini 2 models and costs an extra fee if claimed.
DJI Care Refresh provides protection for DJI products and covers accidental damage as well as flyaways. For the DJI Mini 2, DJI Care Refresh costs 49 euros for 1 year and includes up to 2 replacement units within 12 months. DJI Care Refresh for 2 years includes up to 3 replacement units within 24 months. The fee for the first replacement of the DJI Mini 2 is 49 euros, the second 59 euros. Replacing the drone in case of a flyaway incident costs 229 euros (for comparison, a new DJI Mini 2 currently costs 459 euros). For the DJI Mavic Air 2, DJI Care Refresh costs 89 euros for 1 year.

DJI Care Refresh can be booked for new and unactivated models (besides drones also gimbals) or those that were activated less than 48 hours ago. However, it should be noted that DJI Care Refresh is only valid in the region where the product was purchased. In addition, DJI Care Refresh and the corresponding product must be purchased in the same country or region. DJI will cover shipping costs both ways when a product is returned for replacement. For Flyaway protection to be valid, the aircraft must be paired with the account and remote control.
