The CES (Consumer Electronics Show) starts tonight in Las Vegas and is expected to bring a lot of hardware news to light again. The news presented here is usually not immediately available but mostly hits the market in the summer.
However, according to Computerbase, the new laptops with Qualcomm's new high-end ARM SoC Snapdragon X2 Elite (Extreme) could become available surprisingly quickly, as some retailers have already started listing corresponding devices with prices.
The new high-end SoC is particularly interesting for the new Qualcomm Windows laptops because it brings an unusually fast 12-lane, triple-channel memory interface. With a 192-bit width, the new top models equipped with LPDDR5X-9523 memory can achieve data rates of up to 228 GB/s. This is definitely in the realm of Apple's M4 Pro, which achieves 273 GB/s with a 256-bit interface.
This is an exceptionally high value for a Windows computer without a dedicated GPU, as Windows laptops have generally delivered barely more than 100 GB/s so far.
More importantly, however, Blackmagic supports the Snapdragon SoCs with its own optimizations, which is why one can expect quite good performance from the upcoming processors here. 
We were recently somewhat disappointed in this regard with Intel.
However, these top Qualcomm models are unlikely to be cheap; including taxes, at least 1,700 Euros are being discussed for a 32 GB/1TB model. In the medium term, even higher prices may be on the horizon, as the price explosion for RAM and SSD is likely to hit the currently produced devices hard.
Furthermore, Apple will likely soon offer an interesting option in this price range with a new MacBook Air, as the memory throughput of the upcoming entry-level model with the M5 will also increase from 120 GB/s on the M4 to 153.6 GB/s.
