Specifically for "old-school" shoulder-mount camcorders, which are still used in environments like news reporting, Tilta is introducing a new, extendable shoulder pad baseplate. It is compatible with the Canon XF506, Sony Z380, Z280, Z200, and other similar "mainstream" camcorders, and is intended to enable handling closer to that of a shoulder camera.

Tilta Shoulder Pad Baseplate
The extendable design, consisting of a baseplate with a movable pad, offers a total extension of 218.5 mm between the shoulder pad and the top plate. The quick-release plate can be slid forward up to 100 mm to make balancing the camera easier or to allow a clearer view of the monitor. The shoulder pad, in turn, can be extended by 118.5 mm in the opposite direction to create even more space for fine-tuning the camera's balance on the shoulder.
In the extended configuration, the shoulder pad can also be tilted so that the camcorder can be supported on the chest. In the retracted state, the camcorder can be operated traditionally handheld; however, it weighs a good 800 grams more when the shoulder pad baseplate is mounted.
The 1/4″-20 and 3/8″-16 threads on the front allow for the use of an additional quick-release plate to attach the entire baseplate to a tripod or support system.
Price and Availability
The Tilta Shoulder Pad Baseplate for camcorders is expected to be available soon in December, starting at approximately 141.60 Euros.
