Free update: Blackmagic DaVinci Resolve 21 is now final!

Blackmagic introduced DaVinci Resolve 21 at NAB in April, and now, following four beta releases, the final version has been launched. Those who waited to upgrade from Resolve 30 and skipped the betas can now safely install the new version and benefit from hundreds of new features and improvements.

Blackmagic has not only expanded its free grading, editing, compositing, and audio mastering program, DaVinci Resolve 21 (Studio), with a dedicated photo editing suite, but also added numerous AI tools such as IntelliSearch, CineFocus, and facial refinement functions, as well as folder tracks in Fairlight and full integration of the Krokodove effects collection in Fusion. Will the Studio upgrade remain free?

Fortunately, this major upgrade is once again free for all buyers of a previous Resolve Studio version. This is not something to be taken for granted, as CEO Grant Petty had previously

hinted at potential changes to this policy during the last release. However, during the presentation of Resolve 21, CEO Grant Petty emphasized that ongoing new Studio sales currently still contribute sufficiently to funding development.
