From Creator for Creator: RevCut - Lean Review & Deliver Tool for Freelancers

[10:41 Wed,4.February 2026   by blip]

RevCut (short for "Review the Cut") is a minimalist, browser-based "Review & Deliver" tool for freelancers (editors/colorists/motion designers), optimized for the European market. It was developed as an independent alternative to Frame.io & Co, partly to offer video approvals that comply with GDPR, with a server location in Europe. It uses Cloudflare infrastructure with the explicit region setting "EU / Western Europe." The video data is therefore physically located on European servers (depending on routing, usually Frankfurt, Amsterdam, or Paris), which is intended to ensure speed and GDPR compliance.

The focus is also deliberately purely on the review function to distance itself from the "bloatware" approach and keep the price low—uploaded videos can be viewed and commented on for 7 days, after which they are automatically deleted. RevCut is therefore not a storage service.

Videos intended for approval via RevCut are uploaded as MP4 or ProRes files, after which a password-protected link is generated and shared with clients or others. These recipients do not need an account to view a video or make frame-accurate annotations. Details in the image can also be marked, or time ranges highlighted for precise feedback.

Delivery of the completed video can also be done via RevCut. By default, the client cannot download the review file, but as soon as they mark the video as "Approved," the new option RevTransfer appears for the video creator.

This is essentially an integrated "mini WeTransfer": You upload the final master file (in maximum quality, regardless of the compressed review version), and the client receives the secure download link directly in RevCut. This keeps everything in one place.

Using RevCut costs 3, 5, or 10 Euros per month depending on storage needs (between 20-100GB) and how many devices can be logged in simultaneously. The number of projects and approvals per month, however, is not limited. Those who commit to a year can save a few Euros; there is a 2-week free trial period.

Behind RevCut is not a large software company, but rather the tool is an indie project by filmmaker Frankie Doguet; it was initially intended only for his own projects. The revenue generated is intended, among other things, to finance his film project "https://theedgefilm.cc/ (The Edge)."

Frankie is also concurrently working on the rather specialized streaming platform Skrean for horror, thriller, and cult classics, as well as prospectively for the distribution of current independent film projects in these genres.

We like this pronounced do-it-yourself spirit, but we have not yet had the opportunity to try RevCut ourselves.

P.S. With the code "slashCAM20," the first 100 users receive a 20% discount on the first year of the Pro subscription.
