According to an unconfirmed report by Bloomberg, Leica is up for sale. The current owners, Austrian Andreas Kaufmann and the investor Blackstone, are reportedly considering selling their majority stake—if the price is right. And that price is likely to be quite high, as the company&s current valuation is estimated at around 1 billion euros.
;) Xiaomi 17 Ultra Through strategically smart decisions, Leica opened up several new business areas—not least the collaborations with Chinese smartphone brands, such as initially Huawei and since 2022 also Xiaomi, which are likely important. On the  recently released Xiaomi 17 Ultra, for example, a prominent red Leica logo catches the eye. The business with high-quality home cinema projectors (Smart Projection), lifestyle accessories (watches), and premium eyeglass lenses (Eyecare) is also growing. Photography is still referred to as the "core product area." Major investors such as HSG (formerly Sequoia Capital China) or Altor Equity Partners are being mentioned as potential buyers of the Leica shares—however, no further details are currently known.
