Blackmagic Design Expands its Streaming Boxes with the New Blackmagic Streaming Encoder HD – It is the most affordable model in the family with a price of 555 Euros. The compact hardware encoder enables live video streaming directly to platforms such as YouTube, Facebook, or Twitch without the need for a computer. ![]() Blackmagic Streaming Encoder HD The Streaming Encoder HD uses a 12G-SDI port as its input, which allows video to be streamed directly from a professional camera or switcher to the network. However, unlike the Streaming Encoder (UltraHD) 4K, it only supports streaming in HD resolution – 4K input video (up to 2160p60) can also be used and is automatically downscaled to 1080p using the integrated downconverter. For maximum compatibility, the Encoder HD can also be connected to a PC via USB-C and used there as a webcam input for streaming or video conferencing software. ![]() Blackmagic Streaming Encoder HD I/O The resulting video can be streamed directly to the network either via RTMP (Real Time Messaging Protocol) in H.264 or via SRT (Secure Reliable Transport) in H.264 and H.265 through the built-in 10/100/1000BASE-T Ethernet port. Alternatively – or in parallel as a backup – a 4G/5G modem or smartphone can be used via USB-C for mobile streaming. ![]() Blackmagic Streaming Encoder HD mobile streaming Direct streaming to compatible platforms or software (via USB-C) such as Facebook, Twitch, YouTube, Twitter, Restream.IO, Vimeo, BoxCast, Castr, AfreecaTV, Bilibili, DouYu, Weibo, Zoom, Skype, Microsoft Teams, QuickTime Player, FaceTime, OBS Studio, Open Broadcaster, VLC, Wirecast Play, or the Wowza Streaming Engine is supported.
