Parallel to the major new version DaVinci Resolve 21.1, Blackmagic has also given its cloud an upgrade that brings several interesting features specifically for the collaborative review and approval of videos. At the heart of the new features is the "Presentations" application in the browser-based Blackmagic Cloud, which allows production teams and clients to view and discuss videos in the browser. New additions here include graphical annotations, replies to comments, direct uploads and downloads in the browser, as well as subtitles and variable playback speeds.
Drawing change requests directly onto the image
Markers set to a specific frame can now be given not only a text comment, but also a graphical annotation. Available tools include freehand drawings, arrows, lines, rectangles, and ellipses in various colors. These elements can be subsequently moved, rotated, scaled, or deleted.
Comments, markers, and clip annotations are synchronized in real-time between participants and automatically appear in the DaVinci Resolve timeline belonging to the presentation clip. Editors and colorists can reply directly to a comment and mark completed change requests as resolved. The marker list can be sorted by timecode, name, or status, and searched by comments or users—completed entries can be hidden for better clarity.
Uploading and downloading videos directly in the browser
Previously, presentation clips were primarily shared using the quick-export function in DaVinci Resolve. Now, already exported videos can also be added directly via a presentation's website. Supported formats include H.264, H.265, and most ProRes variants with the exception of ProRes 4444. The service does not accept interlaced files.
The reverse process is now also supported: authorized reviewers can download presentation clips from the browser and view them regardless of their cloud connection. In the actual cloud storage, entire folders or multiple selected files can also be downloaded together. Furthermore, Blackmagic promises faster upload and download speeds.

Subtitles and variable playback speed
Another new feature is the support for subtitles within the web-based player. Subtitles present in the Resolve timeline can be displayed during the presentation—alternatively, SRT and VTT files can be uploaded. The position, size, and color of the subtitles are adjustable.
The playback speed can now be changed between 0.25x and 2x speed, even while a video is playing. The Blackmagic Cloud update is deployed server-side and is already available via the Blackmagic Cloud web interface. Further details on the new review tools can be found in the updated Blackmagic Cloud Guide.
