Canon has apparently accidentally published details about upcoming firmware updates for the Canon EOS C50, C80, and C400. The updates bring a major new feature: the C80 and C400 will receive a new exposure mode called "Cinema Exposure," which can be selected alongside the existing Custom Picture mode and is said to affect the dynamic range distribution. New: Cinema Exposure for Canon EOS C80 and C400Firmware 1.0.7.1 for the C80 and C400 introduces a new[Capture Mode] that allows users to choose between the established[Custom Picture] and the new[Cinema Exposure]. In the new mode, the dynamic range balance can be adjusted depending on the set ISO. Additionally, the update brings compatibility with the new CINE-SERVO lenses CN30×40 IAS J/R1 (RF-mount) and CN30×40 IAS J/P1 (PL-mount) to both cameras.  Canon EOS C50 The Canon EOS C50 is not getting the featureNotably, while firmware 1.0.5.1 also brings compatibility with the new Cine-Servo lens as well as general stability improvements to the more compact Cinema EOS C50, Cinema Exposure is left out. It is conceivable that Canon is intentionally creating a differentiation here between the more hybrid-oriented entry-level model and the two higher-priced cine cameras. AvailabilityAccording to the leaked information, firmware versions 1.0.7.1 (C80/C400) and 1.0.5.1 (C50) are scheduled to be available for download starting August 19, 2026. Whether Canon will postpone this date remains to be seen—so far, this is leaked information from Canon Rumors that has not been officially confirmed by Canon.
