Datacolor is expanding its SpyderCheckr family with two individual reference cards and dedicated replacement card sets for photography and video production. The new additions are the SpyderCheckr Photo Grey Balance Card and Photo White Balance Card. In addition, the color cards used by the SpyderCheckr Photo and SpyderCheckr Video systems can now be purchased and replaced separately from their respective cases. Datacolor is also launching a special offer on the new cards and the comprehensive Photo/Video Kit.
Grey and white balance on set
The two new individual cards are designed to provide a neutral reference during shooting for subsequent color workflows. The Grey Balance Card serves as a grey reference, while the White Balance Card is intended to enable a defined white balance. This is particularly useful for productions involving multiple cameras, changing lenses or varying lighting conditions, helping to match all cameras consistently. The recorded reference values can subsequently be used for color correction, making it easier to match footage from different cameras and reproduce product or brand colors more consistently. For video workflows, Datacolor also offers color references calibrated for Rec.709.
Card sets available separately
With the SpyderCheckr Photo Card Set and SpyderCheckr Video Card Set, Datacolor is now also offering the reference cards as separate sets. Existing SpyderCheckr cases can therefore be fitted with new cards or used with either the photo or video card set. Damaged or aged cards can be replaced without having to purchase an entirely new system.
