A new G Master lens will be released in February for users of Sony's full-frame mirrorless cameras, such as the new Alpha 7S III, or other Sony E-mount cameras. The FE 35 millimeter F1.4 GM fixed focal length is lightweight and compact (524 grams, 76 x 96 millimeters) and just as fast as the already available 24mm G-Master optic, with which it shares many features.

Various focusing functions are available in conjunction with Sony cameras. Two Sony XD (eXtreme Dynamic) linear motors, as well as control algorithms developed specifically for them, are said to ensure fast, smooth and quiet AF operation. The manual focus adjustment responds linearly, which videographers in particular will appreciate. A focus hold button and focus adjustment switch are provided. The minimum focusing distance is 27 centimeters at 0.23x maximum magnification in autofocus mode.
Among the 14 elements in 10 groups are two XA (Extreme Aspherical) lens elements and one ED glass element. High resolution is to be maintained over the entire image area, while chromatic aberrations as well as violet color fringes are to be minimized to a large extent. In Super35 or APS-C mode, the focal length is Kb-equivalent to about 52.5mm.
The nearly circular aperture consists of 11 blades. The detent steps on the aperture ring can be turned off for silent operation while filming. The filter diameter measures 67mm. The lens is manufactured to be (approximately) weather resistant
The Sony FE 35 millimeter F1.4 GM (model name SEL-35F14GM) costs €1,699 and will begin shipping in February 2021.
