DJI has released a major firmware update for its two recently launched gimbal cameras, the <
DJI Osmo Pocket 4 and the more professional <DJI Osmo Pocket 4P, bringing interesting new features such as automatic cloud uploads, faster tracking, and—additionally for the 4P—a D-Log 10-bit color mode for slow-motion recording.

New Features for Both Models
The centerpiece of the update is cloud integration: when the camera is not in use, it automatically uploads recorded footage to Google Drive, OneDrive, or a personal NAS in the background. This is practical, for example, for collaborative workflows where the editing of the captured footage needs to take place quickly over the network.
In addition, DJI is improving automatic subject tracking with a new feature that enables faster selection and tracking of people, keeping them in the frame. Also new is the ability to zoom while tracking and the retention of the last-selected smart gimbal mode after a restart. Furthermore, diagonal joystick inputs are now available for gimbal control, allowing for combined pan-tilt movements at 45-degree angles.

D-Log Slow Motion Exclusive to the 4P
The Pocket 4P is also getting 10-bit D-Log for slow-motion recording—specifically D-Log, not the higher-quality D-Log2, which, according to the manufacturer, remains reserved for normal, non-slow-motion footage. What is new here is less the profile itself than the range of possible frame rates: D-Log is now available up to 4K/240p on the 20mm wide-angle camera and up to 4K/200p on the 3x telephoto camera. Additionally, DJI provides updated D-Log to Rec.709 and Rec.709 Vivid LUTs in version 2.0.
The update has been available for free via the DJI Mimo app for a few days.
