Well, what a surprise: EIZO will expand its ColorEdge product line with an OLED model for the first time and showcase it at NAB Show and MPTS 2026.
With its (yet unspecified) peak brightness, a smart yet precise brightness control (ABL), and an extreme contrast ratio of 1,500,000:1, the upcoming OLED ColorEdge is set to bridge the gap between the reference monitor ColorEdge PROMINENCE CG1 and the popular models in the CG series.
Until now, EIZO considered OLED technology not precise enough for the extremely high demands of ColorEdge users—a situation that is now changing due to proprietary innovations...
Most OLED displays feature an ABL system (Auto Brightness Limiter) that reduces the overall brightness of the screen to protect the panel in bright scenes—which, however, can simultaneously impair tonal balance and color perception.
EIZO has further developed this process specifically for its upcoming OLED ColorEdge, which is intended to maintain tonal accuracy and color stability.
Even when luminance control is active, EIZO's OLED display is supposed to preserve the integrity of midtones, whereas conventional ABL systems lead to a collapse of gradations and a loss of detail.
The brightness control method can be selected depending on the image content. Highlight Dimming preserves midtones and lower tones by intelligently darkening bright areas, while Uniform Dimming reduces brightness evenly across the entire image for a harmonious balance between bright and dark areas.
A blue status indicator on the monitor always shows whether brightness control is active, thus giving creatives a clear insight into the monitor's operating status without interrupting the workflow.
Since conventional OLED monitors can exhibit color fringing at high-contrast edges such as text or fine details, EIZO has also integrated a special circuit designed to reduce these artifacts, ensuring cleaner and more natural edges.
So, anyone hanging around NAB and/or MPTS should not miss the opportunity to take a look at EIZO's first OLED ColorEdge.
