After the multiple delays due to production and certification problems, RED CEO Jim Jannard now finally announces the plan for the market launch of the RED Hydrogen One Holo smartphone.
From August 31st to September 11th those pre-orderers who have decided for the RED Houdini, the special developer pre-version of the Hydrogen One, will receive the new model with aluminum housing (the delivery titanium version is still unclear). Since the number of this special pre-version is very limited, not every willing user will be able to get one.
There will also be a special launch event in the RED Studios with Jim Jannard. For the recipients of the RED Hydrogen One Houdini, however, special conditions apply: since it is an unfinished model with a preliminary version of the firmware and software, RED forbids the users to publish reviews, bad pictures made with it or negative comments under the threat of remotely bricking the respective device, thus blocking it.
The Houdini is a beta version of the RED Hydrogen One, whose users should report bugs to RED - the software is still under development. As a special treat for the pre-orderers (and beta testers) it comes together with a 128 GB MicroSD memory card.
RED Hydrogen One
On October 9, the official version of the RED Hydrogen One will start shipping for all pre-orderers - first the version with black aluminum and then the titanium models.
On November 2, the sale of RED Hydrogen One (but only in aluminum) via the mobile phone companies AT&T and Verizon in America and Telcel in Mexico begins for 1,295 dollars. This saves RED Hydrogen pre-orderers a good 100 dollars and they get their smartphones 1 month (or 2) earlier than the buyers of the official model.
