The hot discussion about the RED MINI Mags has a pleasing result: RED has lowered the prices by more than 20% - a 480 GB MINI Mags costs 1,450 dollars instead of 1,850 dollars and the prices of the 960 GB MINI Mags were lowered from 2,950 dollars to 2,350 dollars.
In a video Jinni.Tech, a supplier of alternative storage media for Red cameras, had made several rather unpleasant claims for RED, namely that RED MINI Mags, contrary to RED statements, do not use patented technology, but only standard SSDs; that they are not manufactured in the USA and that the storage capacities of the RED MINI Mags are overstated.

REDs Jim Jannard Answer on July 12 (before the price reduction): "I mentioned in another post, just like last year the costs goes down (usually) as time goes on... we lowered prices on media last year as well because of that. I am just accelerating the schedule as Phil explained because so many people seem so upset over all this which still surprises me. We can go further... that's up to all of you, but the upcoming camera/accessory prices will need to go up as a result of it. Your choice. Those costs that I laid out in detail in my Cinema5D article are real and they don't magically disappear ."
In this sense the price reduction of the RED MINI Mags is relativized again, if the prices of the next RED cameras/accessories rise, so that the mixed calculation is correct again for RED.
