After the full format cameras have become more and more compact lately and even Sony itself will introduce a new full format miniaturization level for the E-Mount with the upcoming A7c, Samyang with its Tiny series should be very trendy. These are especially compact full format primes with high light intensity and autofocus.
The AF 35mm F1.8 FE is now the newest member of the Tiny series. With a focal length of 35mm, the lens already looks wide-angle on a full format sensor. The F1.8 open aperture can already provide very narrow focus ranges and a lot of bokeh.
The 10 elements are arranged in 8 groups, including 2 aspherical lenses (ASP) as well as 2 lenses made of high refractive glass (HR), for which Samyang promises a "crystal clear resolution from the center to the very edge".
Samyang also has superlatives in store for the autofocus: the linear stepper motor is said to be able to move even the sometimes heavy lens groups at high working speed while keeping the noise level extremely low. At only 23.05 dB, it should be virtually undetectable even in quiet environments. The closest focusing distance is 29 cm.
Also noteworthy is the integration of a configurable custom switch. This can currently be assigned functions such as manual focus, autofocus, manual iris and automatic iris.
Furthermore, the lens should also be able to cope with suboptimal weather conditions and be insensitive to rain, snow showers, sand and dust. Its compact dimensions of 63.5 mm in length, 65 mm in diameter and 210 grams in weight should sound extremely interesting to all users who need it compact.
A supplied lens hood can be removed, in addition there are protective caps and a sturdy case.
The lens can be ordered immediately from WALSER, the distributor for Samyang in Germany and Austria for 429 Euro incl. VAT. It will be delivered from 15 October 2020.
