Teradek has released two new Sidekick receivers for its Bolt wireless video transmission system. The two new ones are Bolt Sidekick XT and LT and are compatible with all previous models like the Bolt 500, 1000 and 3000 transmitters and the new LT and XT. They are designed to complement existing bolt systems - an existing transmitter can easily be supplemented by several additional receivers. Both sibnd are quite compact (the Sidekick LT is a bit smaller and lighter than its sister model) and have no external antennas - so their reception range is limited to 500 feet, i.e. around 150 meters.
The more expensive Sidekick XT offers both SDI and HDMI output and features 3D LUTs and a 5 GHz spectrum analyzer - the cheaper Sidekick LT only has HDMI output. Both models support time code and metadata. The Sidekick LT costs around 2,250 euros, the XT around 2,800 euros. Soon Teradek will also add matching Sony L-Series / Canon LP-E6 battery plates to its range.
