Thypoch is expanding its Simera-C series of cine lenses at the ultra-wide-angle end. The new Simera-C 16mm T1.9 features a very compact design with a length of 70mm and a weight of 467g (M-mount) or 490g (E-mount). Thypoch promotes the M-mount on its Simera-C lenses as being particularly versatile for adaptation due to its short flange focal distance, which also facilitates the compact construction. However, very few filmmakers are likely to already have an M-mount adapter in their lens kit.

Thypoch Simera-C 16mm T1.9
The Simera-C 16mm T1.9 is nearly as fast as the other T1.5 lenses in the series and also covers a full-frame image circle of 43.2mm. Its optical design consists of 15 elements in 11 groups, and the minimum focusing distance is just 0.16m.
According to the manufacturer, the lens exhibits minimal focus breathing and very low distortion. The resolution is stated at 85 lp/mm in the center of the image. Lens flares and ghosting are said to be largely suppressed.
All Simera-C lenses feature an aperture consisting of 16 blades and uniformly positioned lens rings with 0.8 mod gears. The focus rotation angle is 210°.
