Frage von Sascha:

Hello hers:)

I torment myself now been around for weeks with the task of making old VHS tapes with only home videos to digitize and then later a best-of-DVD "out of it. I have an AverTV USB 2.0 Pros box when I connected via composite to the VCR.

The question is what codec should I use to capture. I have scoured the forum here and I met with MJPEG, Huyuff and DV, but these codecs augescheinlich not really get the desired quality. Our objective can only be yes, as loss as possible to digitize digitized material can then be further processed into, right?

Now I've tried the Lagarith codec ... The quality is great, but it produces huge amounts of data on the calculator, and besides, it looks as if the videos were running too slow (~ 0.75): (

I am really at a loss if the codec mass ffdshow makes available, which I guess s.besten. I'm really grateful for every tip.

Nope, so little loss as necessary. For analog VHS material, a detailed digitization of 1:1 by technical noise is not necessarily desirable.

With all three of these codecs, I have had good experiences. Of course you can s.den settings of MJPEG and HuffYUV fumble until comes out a lousy quality.

What is a post brings some of the digitized material for example one with noise reduction filter (Smoother). I use it like VirtualDub.

Good luck

Hmmm ... I have taken the "default settings" without changing anything about it. The result is still somehow "streaky". This just reminds me that "streaks" do indeed synonymous with what to interlacing. Since it is an option for de-interlacing active ... And it may be because I should then perhaps be better off?

Yes, that would make me. I digitize interlaced and interlaced video synonymous burn to DVD. It looks easy on TV better.

Hi Sascha,

at the same time, there was in the video forum a very similar question (see VHS to DVD with Canopus), in which someone has tried, with a AVerTV card digitize analog video.

Thus, low-cost devices often do not deliver the quality desired by the user himself. The questioner in the linked post has since been found a better way. Further down I will call them a possible solution.

Well, look clean. ;-)
