Dear community!

I have full of joy for the private Urlaubsfilmerei a Canon HF 100 increased. From the performance of the camera, I am excited, but as now edit the clips?

Technical Requirements:

Intel MacBookpro enough power, 2.2 Ghz and 4 GB of RAM

Software:

Final Cut Pro 6.0.5
Final Cut Express 4.0.1
AIVD MC 3.1 software only
IMovie with AVCHD Support

I have try the following:

Final Cut Pro and FCE can not edit the clips of the Camera in the Intermediate or ProRes 422 codec transcode, but both programs with the number of clips somehow not clear. I have about 600 clips and somehow manage to both the Clipreihenfolge Programs in the sequence is random to confuse or are simply not all the clips in the Bin transcodierten appear twice or sometimes synonymous - uh? I'm just stumped! So I can not work! I have several overnight transcodiert ...


Avid: does not support AVCHD or does it? The transcoding tool of Panasonic, I can not use it as "really" no PC available and also the tool with the Panasonic only structure on the SD card is running. What now? Can someone please provide a Panasonic structure available? I think that Avid is synonymous future is not confined to a (native?) With WinXP Pro or Sony Vegas Movie Studio Platinum natively on your Mac or Parallels. How it works really well, because for MacOS X, there is simply no good news software that natively or at least efficient with AVCHD material way.

As I did with the two systems are not really familiar because I have somewhat "afraid" ... well s.Ende are NLEs - but that's when you refer to the system is fixed (uh, it was!).

Still, somebody has experience with Final Cut Pro? What do I do wrong? We can never be Avid?

Both Final Cut Pro as synonymous Avid need a (previous) transcoding. That requires a lot of time and space on the hard drive. Subsequently, with Final Cut Pro is very slow, with some Avid normally. Sounds silly - but it is so. The problem with the programs of your favorite: Your calculator is too slow for HD editing ;-)

Did you look at the exact times Clipnummerierung views? The JVC GZ-HD40, it is namely hexadecimal. After the last paragraph 9 it is with A, B, C, etc. and continue blöderweise diving then these clips are not synonymous in our logical sequential order, but somewhere after. But it is a system behind it that fast through.

Thanks for the hint. As the numbering or naming of the HF 100 does, I can not tell you now - I look after and s.Abend wearing this info to. But if you have the clips in Final Cut Pro importierst then numbered Final Cut Pro through this. Example numbered clip # 1, Clip # 2 ... However, "loses" Final Cut Pro then some clips in the BIN or twice to display them. Totally illogical!

On the subject of Avid: the clips natively edit, which I thought already adopted. In Final Cut Pro must indeed be synonymous transcodiert. And for now sooo powerful PC to buy, I would not synonymous. Can I get clips of a Panasonic AVCHD camera to you? Or rather the container, so I with the transcoding tool of Panasonic can work? So AVCHD to DVCProHD

Irrespective of a separate numbering in Final Cut Pro might be just the batch conversion from above, not in the order, which you expect. The need to see you sometime. However, some clips that are lost or appear twice is obviously inexcusable, because I give you right.

A question of workflow. If possible, the clips on your Mac of the first camera view, you can individually synonymous in a Compressor batch and every move sequentially or equal with real, meaningful names to designate for the output. ProRes takes place on the HD, but saves behind the processor. If you already during the seven views, you can place the synonymous with the space limit. Not comfortable, but at the moment probably the only alternative to Windows, in terms of quality and not a disadvantage.

By the way, with no experience with AVCHD to have the appropriate window for transmission is called "Log and Transfer" (as opposed to "Log and Capture"). What is logging more than names clips with manual order? Seems sensible.

The Apple Intermediate Codec, iMovie and the one previously synonymous in Final Cut Pro for HDV needed really is not very good.

First I would like to thank you for the help.
I have tested what keeps the stuff and the nights spent with transcode. I think an appropriate workflow for me to have found the experience and would like to share with you. Please understand that as a suggestion, for me this is the best way of working - although I prefer to cut with AVID (I just went to MC 3.5 and it does not trozdem).

* Shots with the Canon HF 100 (3xSDHC of Transcend cards - are working very stable!)
* Transcoding with Final Cut Pro on a MacBookPro into the Apple ProRes 422 codec
* Soundtrack on EDIROL UA-25 with HME 25
* Transfer s.iDVD via> Export> QuickTime Movie> Settings: Current Settings> NOT as an independent film (ie QT REF)
* Via the drag and drop them into iDVD
* IDVD converts fairly decent SD quality> let's see if the 2 hours of film is finished, whether it is still synonymous. maybe then I must s.den Compressor ran - but it should be easy!
* Test on toast 10 in a BluRay structure burned to DVD - wahnsinn: on PS3 and 42 "LCD looks very good!
* Now I need only a BluRay burner - then the Mini Consumer HD workflow (almost) perfect

Another Note on the blog s.Anfang occurred mixing of the clips in Final Cut Pro: I can not the clips import and label them separately, because there are simply too many (600 plus!) Then I had 2 projects created by 2 Stories cutting. You have Final Cut Pro "confused" and the sequences come in various projects somehow mix. Sounds strange, but it is so. In the test I had then deleted EVERYTHING and only one Project transcodiert. The way to a panel of external WD USB in FAT32. As long as I only one project presentation, must be Final Cut Pro with the numbering and order in the order of the clips in the sequence of things. Now when you restart clips no longer synonymous OFFLINE.

Next target with Avid editing anyway - when the boys get come from the Slippers and a reasonable WF for the MAC and Canon cameras offer!

Well great, now that you've found your WF.
What hourly rate do you use private actually start?
In total you would have probably the same for the JVC GZ HD30 for just over ¬ 500, - acquire (image quality equal to HF 100) and with the quality geichwertigen mpeg2 full-HD format without the slightest difficulty and without intermediates in MC 3.5 can start.

IMPORTANT NOTE:

the problem with the scrambled clips in Final Cut Pro is synonymous fixed!
Must an external hard drive in MAC format! I had these problems with a GIANT FAT32 formatted external hard drive. This is the Final Cut Pro is not tolerated and therefore the assignment of the. Mov clips totally confused. Now runs a RAID FireWire 800 - this is unnecessary seeehr!

I have not tried it yet, but Toast 9 / 10 should be your Quicktime video in an MPEG-2 Transport Stream with AVC (H.264) codec can convert. The PS3 can transport flows directly from the Clip-choice player. Your camera produces exactly the same way, transport streams in the folder "PRIVATE / AVCHD / BDMV / STREAM" (with extension. MTS), you synonymous directly on the PS3 can watch.

Another note. The said transport streams are part of a Blu-Ray structure. It may be that Toast does not create individually, but all the same as Blu-ray image created or the like. It makes no difference, however, You find the synonymous transportation flows there.
