Well, I am shooting well with the HV30, with no hassle.
In general, I must say that Canon has moved with four devices with me:
HV30 camcorder, Bridge PowerShot SX1 IS digital camera, scanner CanonScan Lide 20, printer Pixma iP 4000th Actually it was not planned, but it's come to this, probably an indication of quality.
Despite many temptations, I remain a Canon next customer.

I have one synonymous HV30, and find it quite ok. "Only" ok, because there are a few things that really disturb me:
4 reasons not to buy HV30
1. Screen: The built-in screen shows only the "safe area" not s.and the full picture being recorded. Result: Several times was a microphone in the picture, I could not even see. Apart from this, the display is synonymous otherwise more moderate, that of SonySR12 like it much better ...
2. Manual Settings: You can still regulate exposure, gain or Aperture manual, but hold only one of them. With a few tricks that already works, but still: My previous JVC GZ MG505E could adjust all settings manual. simultaneously. Even the gain could be off.
3. Focus Ring: That which is promoted as a focus ring is rather a useless wheel. A solution could be setting up DIY-focus ring, but somewhat rattled. As the happy sound.
4. Speaking of sound: that the sound of the internal mics is lousy, you know not only that: even connected external mic with the sound is quite bad, because (the background noise of the HV30 mics!) Makes the recording again broken. Here, too, is thus an external recorder announced ...
The picture quality is really good and synonymous the HDV recording format I like, but there are a few things, the new (make AVCHD) camcorder significantly better.
Almost all of the Vimeo video of the top with a 35mm adapter has been rotated. Because of course looks like a lot better ...

I had sent away the hv30 for a few days.
The limitations of manual controls was more than frustrating. Not even a manual focus ring!
I was in front of the Pana nvgs 500th A Prachstück!
Why do not the cams with nem focus ring? = (

Btw, a friend of me has a HV20 with a properly constructed class animal documentary from South Africa - the images were completely knotless. Great camcorder, the Canon of dwarves.

I have ne HV-20 the first hour, and I love this format. Shame on all of the HDV camcorder vendors despise format.
The only thing I could criticize s.der HV-20 is the rolling shutter.
To all the bitch here ... You is already clear that we are talking about a cheap amateur camera.
