Panasonic HDC-SD5 or SonyHDR-HC5?

Question by Jesus-Walks:
März 2008

What camcorder would you recommend, they're the best in the range up to 600 ¬ or not? Will a lot of editing, is the Panasonich suited?

Answer by Badd:

For the post has the same HDV ahead - in Comparison to AVCHD.

Answer by Jesus-Walks:

Surely, so to speak, but would like to invest in the future and the Panasonic Cam is certainly better, or? I have a not so powerful calculator, I can at all these formats with anything?

Answer by Badd:

Hi,

So I did last week Sonygekauft ... I'm really thrilled. The small is beautiful and easy and makes a good quality. I was in HDV and then recorded on the HDMI port directly on my 32 inch LCD in 16:9 full angeguckt. I sat not 50 cm away from the LCD and the video still looked really good ...

Now According to the Edit ... Since I have problems. Hab nen PC with Win2000 (Mag halt XP and Vista do not really like, but Mac and linux even less), 2.2 GHZ Pentium 4, 1 GB RAM, mainly at least 9 GB of free hard disk space and various internal large external hard disks. Thus, I can very well edit videos when they are in DV format. With the Sony supplied software can I use Firewire (which is the name of Sonyi.link) only DV and HDV is not about to play. The software says that you need for HDV at least XP SP2 and it is not even trying. Other software, without the XP via firewire HDV can record, I have not yet found. So can I cam currently only in DV mode .... (Although it should not function, which, when output via Firewire, material which is recorded in HDV, DV converted, but works for me. On the PC comes with a video so its kind mosaic effect. Maybe Cam is broken or I understand the instructions wrong. Must ensure that the Sony hotline times annoying, because the seller was overwhelmed with the question)

Conclusion: What did you do for a calculator? I think with XP SP2 and PC nem roughly as good as I, it should be possible to have the HDV of the Sonyzu import and edit. Oh yes ... should not have Firewire interface. Ists without very cumbersome, may need additional hardware and does not have the full quality. (Please do not take personally, but on a different page in the web someone wrote as a minus point for the Cam, that video is not done via USB to the PC can be:-S)

For AVCHD with Panasonic, I can say nothing, because I have no experience with.

Gruss

Answer by Badd:

AVCHD record with 13 Mbps is no investment in the future, because it already has the cameras with 17 Mbps and can be offered tomorrow what it can do with 20Mbps.

Big Cheese is the difficult course of H.264/AVC Edit, but you need a PC Built in 2010!

Answer by Badd:

So I would take the Sony synonymous
Advantages:
1. You can do it much better and, above all, edit - synonymous with a non-so-current PC.
XP SP 2, you should have it, however - then it works great.
2. Your Mini DV tape is simultaneously recording and back up media (ie no problems with the Archivirung for later)
3. s.der Sonyhast you more manual intervention in the image-making than the Pana
4. pana, the 5 Series is known for "thermal" problems - is there even in the operating
5. the Sonyhat a viewfinders, micro-, Headphones and Lanc - Connection
6. Sonyhast when you have a much larger sensor, which (at least in theory) the better qualities promises Lowlight (synonymous when it comes to one of the three is Pana)

Answer by Jesus-Walks:

I have a 3GHz Calculator with 1gb ram, but before soon in a dual-core to invest ... For me, the image quality is the key, do you really the Sonyin the area is better? On my Panasonic, the high and big enough memory card I've synonymous ... It is of course the post ...

Answer by Jesus-Walks:

Perhaps more would be crucial, I would like to edit the videos a lot and then burn to DVD. Can we not simply the beginning of the video s.in umkonvertieren another format?

Answer by Badd:

Image quality of the Panasonic, I can not judge - but the HC 5 is already geil.
If you want to edit, you come to HDV (SonyHC 5) is not over.
The AVCHD format (for Panasonic) is suitable for shooting and for viewing the raw images - the post is not suitable (look at Wikipedia under AVCHD).

This post comes to your program.
If you have Firewire importierst, for example, can capture the video program from Ulead Media Studio Pro 7 (I know, is somewhat older, but so far makes me good service in SD area), select whether you as a DV AVI or MPEG / MPEG2 on the PC want to record.
