Infoseite // Quality problems with watching a DVD on the self-TV

Frage von Winston:

Hello,
I make my video recordings with a DV Camera VX-2000 and transferred via i-link to the Kron Casablanca Smart Edit 3.1. To cut and I do I edit everything. This device has no separate burner and gives the edited video as DV - Video heraus.Die again cut quality of videos is very good.
Synonymous My laptop has an I-link input. I use this on the Aldi 95500 Notebook present former program CyberLink PowerProducer 3, with which I am the DVD in right-to-disc process was transferred. Initially I was satisfied with the delivered image quality, because my videos never more than 60 minutes and I always took the picture HQ angklickt habe.Jetzt I made a longer movie, I'm out on the standard-setting and am disappointed gone. A swing over a lake was very bad in the play.
Why? If the s.System MPEG? If yes, then why are the purchasable DVD movies properly?
S.Brennprogramm If it is, there is something better than the Cyberlink Power Producer 3?
For a friend who built with the Casablanca Pioneer burner I have used synonymous in the medium quality (2 hr) are not inferior image quality can be observed.
For an answer I would be very grateful. Bin Computer Beginners kenn and me with codecs, etc. is not enough.
Yours Grüßen1

That is no disgrace, however, no excuse synonymous, is not the necessary knowledge to seek. That you will need, although the principle is quite simple, if the details of complicated synonymous.

In simple:

DV is defined by a fixed data rate (about 3.5 MByte / sec) and a einzelbildbasierende Compression.

MPEG defines itself and others on a variable data rate (up to about 9-10 Mbit / sec.) And a Picture changes based Compression.

Since both types of compression are lossy, it is necessarily higher in the MPEG compression in comparison to DV a worse picture quality.

A DVD disc as the target medium has the storage size of either 4.7 (= 4.38) than GB DL or 8.5 (= approximately 7.9) GB.
Purchase A DVD has 9.4 GB, it's an expensive codec gewerkelt and the raw material is of an entirely different quality than our data. Take not as a yardstick.

Return to standard DVD disc with 4.7 GB.

At 60 minutes, you can a data rate of approximately 8 Mbit / sec. Select and fill the DVD to almost 100%.
At 120 min, you can hold only 4 Mbit / sec. choose to refer to the same overall space to come.

The compression is now also with 4 Mbit / sec. significantly higher than with 8 Mbit / sec., so the resulting picture quality according worse.

At 8 Mbit / sec is the result of DV often hardly be distinguished at 4 Mbit heavily dependent of the method used (VBR / CBR) and from the codec somewhere between barely usable to grotte bad.

In the above text, almost all contain words that you need to carry out the necessary track record.

You can register for free by the synonymous www.edv-tipp.de fight. That's already a bit older, but still the standard work for understanding digital videos.

Hi Peter,
the necessary theory has delivered Stefan yes. In view of the practice: it seems to me the MPEG encoder in your CyberLink is not worth much at bit rates of 8,000 as the show blurs the swing (the burner can nix that).
One of the best MPEG encoders in the amateur, the CANOPUS ProcCoderExpress for about 60 euros belong. The allowed usein called 2-pass encoding, which is the best possible use of available space (very moving passages get higher bitrates allocated as static).
Perhaps you have a purchase.

Thanks for the quick info. If I install the program, do I have the CyberLink PowerProducer program to uninstall?
Or is there no problems?
Synonymous, the program has a Right-to-disc function, a direct transfer dhist DV Camera DVD without intermediate storage on the hard drive possible?

Exactly this feature is only be applied if you know what you there for a program and, above all, what exactly can we do. Keyword -> two pass

Again in simple, but please read themselves, such as the proposed link of me or the FAQ of this forum:

If I were enough bitrate available and can be the raw material is good (at least DV), then I can, but need not, at this time saving option back.

If I need a good result, although the source material is poor (eg, digitized VHS) or I just set a low bitrate, then I have more time to the encoder to the "thinking" type. Then it's synonymous to a fast system like nothing ever with "real time"

It is another aspect to note that I have already alluded. To me there is such a suspicion.

If you think you can directly of the Camera in MPEG capturn and then edit it (Cut, screens, transitions, and haste nich gesehen) and cut you in your own meat.

But why MPEG is not really schnitttauglich, here too often described as that I have these that I want to make trouble again.

If your intention is so, let it.

Greeting
Stefan
