Infoseite // Question to analog converter and analog input

Frage von minga:

Hello, I want to buy a miniDV camera. As I read the Search, you can record on miniDV cameras synonymous old analog videos from the camera and then can burn to DVD and record TV programs synonymous on the camera, I would now like to know some to the right camera to purchase.
1. What is the difference between analog input and an analog converter. Canon offers its cameras so that they emphasize the difference synonymous. What's going on there?
2. How then does it really mean? Is it sufficient to connect the miniDV s.den VCR to record the film on miniDV, transfer them to PC and burn. 'm Totally inexperienced. Can someone give me more information about this?
3.MUST it really possible to record TV programs directly from television to miniDV to load the film and then into the pc to burn to DVD?
Hopefully, I ask s.Auskunft here not too much.
Thanks for your help.

Hello Minga,

to 1:
If a camcorder has an analog input, then you can record analog playbacks on MiniDV. Has he, however, an analogue / digital) converter (converter, then you can use the digitalsierte signal via Firewire (iLink = = = IEEE1394 DV) directly transferred to the computer, and without prior or simultaneous recording on MiniDV. This is a time saving and an indulgence of the camcorder drive.

Ad 2:
The first part is true: You can use the camcorder s.den AV outputs to connect a VCR and record a movie on MiniDV. The transfer of data to the calculator of MiniDV is possible via firewire with no problems. "... and burn (on DVD?)" requires some basic knowledge, eg in which format (with what settings, the video files) must be converted and Programs which can help it. In some stands here in the forum.

To 3:
If your television has an AV output, you can then connect the camcorder, of course, synonymous and record a TV program on MiniDV. With the antenna signal to the camcorder but can not do anything because it has no tuner.

If you want to record more TV shows on DVD, would be synonymous, perhaps a DVD recorder (hard disks synonymous possibly a DVD recorder) interesting.

An analog input is just an interface that makes it possible to feed signals into the analog video camera. However, this interface would make little sense if it were behind this interface is no "converter", which digitizes the analog signal, and therefore it is ready for further processing. Further processing may then be that the formerly analog video is now stored on the mini-DV tape or via the DV-out port (Firewire = I-Link, IEEE1394) is directly output to save it on your PC.

In principle, yes. As described above then you will get the formerly analog video in an appropriate manner to the PC. You will then need to burn a little more, however, that another "converter", more precisely, an encoder, which creates from your DV digital - video, a digital video in the MPEG2 format and the data processing for the DVD, such as Ulead DVD MovieFactory )

Yes, see above. BUT: Mini-DV tapes have a maturity of 60 or 80 minutes. In the non-preferred type of long-play mode, resulting from 90 or 120 minutes. For so few TV shows that will not suffice.
The DV format required on the hard drive of the PC about 13 GB per hour. Added to this is again the space required for the DVD of about 5 BG.
Once you find the FAQ, there is much already described in more detail. This is just the tip of the iceberg.

Hello Minga,

if you buy a DVD recorder that can read the DVD-RAM write synonymous and is synonymous timeshifting possible. I myself have such a device and find the time slip function extremely useful. ;-)

but then you can not digitize your old vhs tapes - and there are already some cameras (jvc), which can not do and are allzuteuer!

If the contents of the analog video tapes to DVD without major changes should be recorded, then the DVD recorder of the easiest and cheapest way to create DVDs in good quality. To facilitate the recording of TV shows on DVD would be a camcorder with A / D converter function is also only a detour.
