HELP for a layperson --
We are looking for a camcorder with a hard drive has, preferably with a good space - both synonymous and an AV input, so that we VHS cassettes can record (in MP4 format ???).

AVCHD is MPEG4, so HD. When you convert VHS after HD, you get no additional resolution, but needs much space.
SD camcorder Harddisks save in MPEG2.
The best (and of space) solution would be: The VHS movies with an ad converter (could synonymous an SD MiniDV camcorder with AV input to be) on the hard drive of a PC for example, capture and then convert to DivX after.

HELP for a layperson -- A layman, I would urgently to a hard disc recorder guess. If you edit the videos s.PC like, would be a DV camcorder with AV input ideal.
A camcorder hard for your purposes would be a bad buy. Would be only PAL standard models - the making but what a DVD recorder with hard disc makes synonymous. The detour via the PC is so absolutely pointless. If you - for whatever reason always synonymous - s.Computer edit the videos do, is a possible low-loss digitization individually, ie: DV camcorder or Canopus DV converter.
