I'm not an expert in the field, but if you each time a cleaning tape through it, use the heads from quite. Cleaning cartridges should be used rather sparingly.

Had about the same problem and thus a great deal of footage is lost.
Are you using the Sony tapes?
I've had the problem, cleaning tape and let pass through to other tapes changed and then went back. Once again shortly afterwards came the error that Cam has not taken me and then synonymous "Clean the video head" is displayed. Then again I have the tape for 3 seconds to go through and it was now back.
