| growl at sennheiser MKH + sony HVR-A1E

Hello,
I have quite a problem with a sennheiser MKH on xlr s.sony HVR-A1E since yesterday ... it hums all the time.
when I use a wire with a contactless s.den xlr output terminal and between the fingers then believe, disappears, the hum ...
someone ne idee, what's wrong, or an effective medium house, as I get picked in the can (has to be filming tomorrow - sigh) ...

Would first open solder joint / cable break at the XLR-type cable. Would then be easily replaced by a new cable to be confirmed or ruled out.
