Infoseite // how large to make an AVI?

Frage von horstinger:

I'd like to bring to a movie night a couple of films. Consequently, I know the calculator on which they run, do not. The default is AVI. One of the films is 20 minutes and has 4GB. On my PC it runs fine, but I burn it to DVD jerky (he; data rate too low?)
Question: How do I burn it to CD or DVD so that it definitely runs and has good quality? xvid or divx is not even any.

Quote: The default is AVI. That's complete nonsense, because AVI is just a container. No one can smell, which codecs installed on the demonstration Calculator are.

Quote: xvid or divx is not even every This is precisely the problem.

Now, one may naturally suspect and suggest that it is a Windows Calculator (; because otherwise no one at AVI) came from. Then we would see which codecs are supplied with Windows, so that they are most likely installed on the Calculator.
What is supported entirely sure which is uncompressed AVI, because that does not need a codec - but then there already in PAL resolution for a mega-data rate, and even run most of the hard disks is no longer smoothly.

If, as Anlieferformat to the AVI container is (; synonymous for some reason) always would be divx or xvid in my opinion a good compromise because it is a very good image quality at moderate data rates and provides the decoding no extreme demands s.The hardware provides. However, you should only do if it is ensured that the codec is installed.

So I would sit down again in conjunction with the host and to clarify what he really thinks.

Quote: One of the films is 20 minutes and has 4GB. That sounds like DV-AVI.

Is is ok but when I look at the video memory in DV-AVI, to the best possible quality to have, I hope ..... only to watch via DVD which is probably not the optimum .....

To have a look of DVD would be (for example, the perfectly ordinary DVD format, ideally on the basis of MPEG2). Is not an AVI.

I suggested that he would prefer a normal video file. Likely to copy to your PC is with the DVD files, then yes something different.

DVD can be if they are not copy protected, copy synonymous very easy on the PC and then play it with any software DVD player. But of course we do not know if your friend has installed such a player. What we end up back at the old problem. : (;

So I do not know spontaneously suitable for AVI codec, which provides a good ratio of data rate and quality (-at least at the level of MPEG2), and the runs on all Windows PCs.

It would be helpful to know with which software player (; and which version) the file to be played. Then we could look somewhere, what can the.

Just like the words "AVI" is a bad joke.

OK, thanks for the advice, then he should give decent info kindly stop or he gets the DV-AVI and it still has to draw on the calculator (and I hope DV-AVI will run on any PC)

However, there are still a couple Player Programs to help with the rectangular pixels of the DV format can not cope and then squeezed the Picture Show (, what is fatal, especially in 16:9, but 4:3 is synonymous disrupt already).

Antwort von horstinger:

shit, and I thought everything in 16:9 and filmed, DV-AVI would be the ideal format for archiving.

The only problem here is the unknown hardware and software equipment is your friend.
